Description
This course continues the study of world civilization from the time of the French political revolution and
the Copernican scientific revolution. Consideration is given to the rise of eastern and western states,
and the development of modern nations. The student will witness early attempts to establish
democratic governments, and the formation of the bipolar world that has continued through the
twentieth century. Global issues include slavery, gender, world war, and international law. The course
concludes with a review of world governance.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

Evaluate the contributions of different civilizations to world history.
2.
Describe how a study of world history helps modern humans understand the context and
direction of current civilization.
3.
Recognize God’s unfolding plan in the development and growth of civilization as a global
phenomenon in which all the world’s cultural systems have interacted.
4.
4. Commit to the process of integrating faith and learning, and a sense of how the social,
economic, political, military, religious, aesthetic, legal, and technological elements combine in a
Christian worldview.
