Description
Competency and Proficiency in Teaching provides practical instruction on effective teaching
techniques. The course begins by emphasizing the need for transformational teaching—teaching in
which students actually live what they have learned. In this course, the student will learn what
transformational teaching is and how it differs from traditional methods. The student will discover how
the brain learns as well as the strategies needed to help students not only retain information, but use it
in their everyday lives. The course takes the student step-by-step through the process of writing
learning objectives, course descriptions, lesson plans, and syllabi. Then, it helps the student use those
tools in the classroom.
