Description
Paul’s Letters to Pastors is a basic study of the Epistles of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus that describe
God’s strategy for a healthy church. The student will learn about the personal life and duties of a
pastor in finding and preparing leaders for service in the church. The student will study the various
subgroups within a congregation and how to recognize and deal with error. Finally, the student will
consider what is the essential nature of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
1. Discuss the basic outline and content of the pastoral letters.
2. Explain how the pastoral letters relate to the rest of the New Testament.
3. Describe the basic priorities of the work of a pastor.
4. Recognize and avoid errors that are similar to those which existed in the church at the time
Paul wrote to Timothy and Titus.
5. Explain what the pastoral letters teach about the essential nature of the gospel.
6. Identify what Paul instructed Timothy and Titus to teach to the various groupings in their
churches.
7. Relate to your own situation the principles revealed in Paul’s instructions to Timothy and Titus.
8. Pursue your ministry as a servant of the Lord Jesus with a stronger desire to be faithful to His
calling on your life.
